Wisdom in Books

From a little girl, I have loved books. I remember it being a treat for me to go to the book store with my father. When all of the other children were outside playing, I was in my room wrapped up in a book. (smile) I still remember the amazing places I travelled to while reading a book. Places like India, Africa, Holland and Beautiful Islands where the water was sky blue and I could actually see to the bottom. Not like going to the local  beaches of Florida to be stung by jelly-fish.  Man, did those stings hurt!  I remember it just like yesterday.

Back to reading books……

I’m all grown up and I still love books. These days, I read to gain the knowledge that has sometimes taken the author a lifetime to gather and put in a book. So now, when a book is a little costly, I dismiss this thought by remembering…..this author has given me an opportunity to read in a couple of days, what may have taken him a lifetime to research and write.

There is priceless wisdom to be found in books. As Carlyle put it–“All that mankind has done, thought, gained, or been –it is lying in matchless preservation in the pages of books”

And on this post this blog name. I was moved enough to post a commenta response 🙂 I do have a couple of questions for you if you tend not to mind. Could it be just me or does it look like a few of the comments look as if they are left by brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are posting on other places, I’d like to follow you. Would you list all of all your public sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
