5 Ways to Take Care of You Now!

Hello February – The month of love!

HELLO FEBRUARY

Something to think about…

The best way to love others

The month of love… Let’s explore some ways to take care of you. Caring for others is what we focus on without an inkling of why we are not putting forth the same effort towards ourselves. We may have watched our mothers or some other important female role model in our life do the same. Nonetheless, I want to let you in on a little secret… It’s okay to care for and pamper You! That’s my secret that I want you to not only know but act upon for you, just as you do for anyone else – especially that love bug in your life.

Caring for yourself does not take away from how you love others but, it can enhance how you care for others by feeling good about you first. I know, I know, you feel guilty about even thinking about caring for yourself or doing something special for yourself.  It’s not your fault, it is how society has taught us, to take care of everyone else while we go lacking in having at least one solid day to do whatever the heck we want without guilt attached.  I have five grown children and 9 grandchildren who have taught me a little bit about pulling away and taking care of me. I’d like to share with you the five ways I have learned to not feel guilty, pamper myself and enjoy life.  Heck, I think its about time that you do the same for Yourself.

Here’s my list:

  1. Travel
  2. Have fun with a photo shoot
  3. Enjoy the relaxation of aromatherapy
  4. Enjoy your favorite song
  5. Unplug from everyone and everything

Great Travel Ideas.

My most favorite thing to do is travel. . It doesn’t have to be an expensive trip. Cruises these days can be grabbed for less than $500. And if you have not been on a cruise – book one today. You get to wear a bathing suit! Enjoying the sun. No one cares what you look like! Honey you will never see these people another day of your life after you get off this ship. Come on, live your best life NOW. If you’d like some coaching on how to build your confidence – you know how to contact me for that. I’m serious, just start living today! You’ll be glad you did!

Photo shoot

The second thing I enjoy doing to take care of me is a photo shoot. Once upon a time you could NOT get me in front of a camera. Now, ask me if I care…  Nope, I do not care because I have learned to LOVE me just the way I am. I had fun. I was a little stiff and shy until the music came on. It was on and popping after that. Once I was comfortable with the camera in my face, I allowed my personality to come shining through in every pose and then some.

Can you tell I had fun? You can too.

Aromatherapy, the scents that make sense.

The third thing I do to take care of me now is indulge in aromatherapy. If you’ve never used essential oils and part of your daily care for you plan, you are missing out. My favorite oils are peppermint, lavender, and citrus fresh. Each oil has its own set of benefits. Peppermint I use to calm down my hot flashes, generously massage into my legs for relief of any cramping, and sniff for a quick pick me up. Lavender goes with me when I travel to get a good night’s rest after a full day. Citrus fresh can also be worn as a pleasant fragrance that will also bring you joy to wear.

Use Music to treat yourself.

In light of the fourth thing I enjoy doing to take care of me is listening to music – Worship Music for me… I love music and I enjoy most genres. It helps to center me or bring me back from a difficult day or experience. My favorite song is entitled “Way Maker”. There are several renditions of it, so I’ll let you search on your go to site for music to see what you come up with. I challenge you to treat yourself to the genre that refreshes your soul. The next time you listen to your favorite song make a mental note of how it makes you feel besides listening to the beat.

Unplugging for Your Sanity.

As a result of taking care of yourself through Unplugging from everything and everyone for a day or so to unwind, you stay healthy. I tend to unplug from social media, the demands of family and friends or even a big project you may have been working on for some time. Although saying no is difficult to do, you must set boundaries even with your family members. As you become consistent with unplugging on your day, everyone else will respect what you have established for yourself. Take a stand for your sanity, well being and peace of mind through unplugging. Besides, you will begin to appreciate the new you!

Sharing What Works For You.

If this has helped you in some way or the other, please share with your friends and family so we all can refocus and discover ways to take care of ourselves better.

Smiles and Hugs,
